Texas A&M International University's Office of Financial Aid will host about 100 student financial aid administrators for the Texas Association For Student Financial Aid Administrators' (TASFAA) South Texas Regional Rally 2000 April 27-28.

The two day-conference provides TASFAA members with an opportunity to gain valuable updates on financial aid programs and changes. It will be held at the La Posada Hotel.

The local host committee is chaired by Araceli S. Rangel, director of Financial Aid at A&M International. She is assisted by members of A&M International financial aid office, Laura Elizondo, Blanca M. Mcleroy, and Minelly De Leon.

Rangel said the Rally is an important opportunity for financial aid administrators to keep up to date on financial aid changes.

"Recent changes in federal and state financial aid programs are complex and the Rally provides us an opportunity to study these changes, learn about anticipated changes and work towards shared strategies and solutions with our counterparts throughout South Texas. We're delighted to be hosting this important opportunity for our fellow financial aid professionals," Rangel said.

A welcome to the Conference will be presented by Dr. Charles Jennett, A&M International president. Guest speakers will include Sharon Rodriguez and Vickie Tanner of the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation; Jane Caldwell of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board; Kevin Kimble of the US Department of Education and Dr. Jeffrey M. Brown, A&M International assistant professor of psychology.

In addition, special information updates are scheduled by the Texas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (TASFAA), Association of Texas Lenders for Education (ATLE) and other related organizations.

Participants attending the Conference come predominantly from the South Texas area and colleges or universities in Kingsville, Corpus Christi, Victoria, Houston, San Marcos and Edinburg are scheduled to attend.
