University's AKD Honor Society Schedules Photography Contest
Texas A&M International University's Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society (AKD) invites student and amateur photographers to submit entries for the AKD's Second Annual Juried Photography Contest.
Themed "Cultural Encounters" the contest will feature competition in two categories, color and black and white, in two divisions, student photographers under 18 years of age and amateur photographers over 18 years of age.
Proceeds from the contest will support graduate sociology student scholarships at A&M International.
Entry fee for the student photographer division is $5 per entry. Trophies for first, second, and third place in both color and black and white categories will be awarded for student entries.
Entry fee for the amateur photographer division is $20 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry. Prizes for amateur photographer division are $200 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place. Only amateur photographers 18 years of age and over are eligible for monetary awards.
All entries must be original work executed within the past year. They must be 8" x 10" matted photographs and must be accompanied by the entry form and the non-refundable entry fee.
Entry forms are available at A&M International, in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, rooms 426 and 332A; and the Laredo Morning Times, 111 Esperanza.
Deadline for receipt of entries is Wednesday, June 7, 2000.
Winning photographs will be exhibited and awards will be presented on Wednesday, June 28 in the University's Great Room.
