Summer Programs for Kids, Teens Offered at A&M International

A variety of fun, educational summer programs for pre-schoolers to teens is being offered at Texas A&M International University in June and July.

The summer offerings include the following week-long sports camps for children in grades 5th - 12th:

Girls Volleyball Camp, June 19 - 23, 8 a.m. - 12 noon in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building;

Boys Soccer Camp, June 26 - 30, 8 a.m. - 12 noon in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building;

Girls Soccer Camp, July 3 - 8, 8 a.m. - 12 noon in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building.

Tuition for each camp is $75 and includes daily power snacks and a camp T-shirt.

Also offered this summer are Movement Madness dance camps to be held June 19 - 30, from 1 - 3 p.m., for children ages 9 - 16; and July 3 - 13, 6 - 8:30 p.m. for persons over age 16. Tuition for either Movement Madness camp is $75.

Enrichment programs that provide learning experiences in subjects such as computers, math, and science will be offered as well.

Kinder Camp, for 4- and 5-year-olds, will be held weekday mornings June 26 - July 21, 8 a.m. - 12 noon. Fun, hands-on activities will provide learning experiences in math, science, reading, art, and music. Kinder Camp tuition is $200.

The Children's Summer Workshop, for 1st-6th graders, will be held weekday mornings June 26 - July 21, 8 a.m. - 12 noon. Students may enroll in three subjects of their choice, such as "Computer.edu," "Co-Op Sports," "What's A Matter? (science)" and "Figure It Out (math)." Tuition is $225. Additional lab fees apply.

The Summer Academy, for 7th-12th graders, will be held weekday afternoons from 12 - 5 p.m. Participants may enroll in 3 or 4 subjects of their choice. Subject offerings for 7th - 8th graders include: "Creative Sculpture," "Cyberspace Scavenger Hunt," "English-PSAT Prep," "Etiquette for the Finer Things," and "Beginning Guitar." Subject offerings for 9th - 12th graders include: "Mystic Potions, Perfumes and Other Concoctions," "Cyber Prep," "Latin for Literacy," "Computer Graphics," "Beginning Guitar" and "Who Dunit? Forensics." Tuition for the Summer Academy is $250 for 3 courses or $300 for 4 courses. Additional lab fees apply.

Enrollment in summer programs is limited so students should register as soon as possible. Registration is based on a first come, first served basis.
