Students who haven't had an opportunity to take the ACT College Entrance Exam and want to begin their higher education this Fall will benefit from a new Texas A&M International University initiative.

A&M International will offer free ACT Residual Admission Exams on Friday, Aug. 4 and Saturday, Aug. 12. The regular price of the exam, $39, will be waived by the University on a first-come, first-served basis.

Veronica Gonzalez, director of enrollment management, said the offering, dubbed "It's Time to ACT!" should be of great interest to local and area students.

"We always have a number of students who are unable to meet the testing dates because of work conflicts, family responsibilities, scheduling difficulties, or financial concerns. 'It's Time to Act' relieves the potential student of some of those burdens and provides them with an opportunity to take the admission exam for entry at A&M International this Fall," Gonzalez explained.

"We're happy to offer this opportunity as part of our efforts to make hometown higher education as accessible as possible. There should be no barriers to higher education and we believe this initiative does much to streamline student access," she continued.

Students interested in signing up for "It's Time to Act" are urged to do so by calling the University's Testing Center at 326.2130 as space will be limited.

"We urge all students interested in beginning their college education this Fall to take advantage of this opportunity and sign up for the ACT residual exams. It's a great savings and a great incentive to start your higher education," Gonzalez said.

This Fall, expanded course offerings, additions to faculty and new degree programs will make 52 undergraduate or graduate programs available to students.
