First-time Texas A&M International University freshmen can sign up now for a free Overnight Freshmen Orientation program Aug. 9 - 10 designed to show what student life is like on a university campus.

Entering freshmen can register for the Overnight Orientation by calling the University's Office of Student Development at 326-2280. A $20 fully refundable deposit is required to register. Space is limited so students should register as soon as possible.

The supervised Overnight Freshmen Orientation will be held at University Village, the apartment-style student housing located on the A&M International campus. Orientation participants will check into University Village at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9 and check out at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10.

Advisement and registration for Fall semester courses, an opportunity to buy textbooks at the University Bookstore, an informal lunch with faculty and staff, sessions on academic success, career planning, and free University services, plus a chance to explore the A&M International campus and meet fellow freshmen are some of the activities set for the free two-day event.

The Overnight Orientation will also feature several social activities, including a volleyball tournament, movie night, and pool party.

For more information, please call the University's Office of Student Development, 326-2280, or visit offices in Kinesiology/Convocation Building, room 107. University office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
