A&M International's Jennett Named Chair of AASCU Committee

Dr. Charles Jennett, Texas A&M International University president, has been named national Chair of the Committee on Access and Inclusion for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).

Dr. Jennett's appointment was announced by Julio S. Leon, 2000 AASCU Chair and president of Missouri Southern State College. The appointment is effective this Fall and will continue through Nov. 2001.

The Access and Inclusion Committee is one of several national committees that assist AASCU in carrying out its mission. It is charged with helping AASCU campuses create climates that encourage diversity and inclusion and helping members to anticipate and respond to the needs of the new students they will serve in the coming years.

(AASCU) is a Washington-based higher education association of more than 400 public colleges and universities and systems across the United

States and in Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

AASCU promotes broad understanding of public higher education's essential role in society, and is the advocate and guardian for public higher education policy issues at the national, state and campus levels. AASCU provides personalized leadership support services to college presidents and to other member-campus leaders. A&M International is a long-time member.
