Sponsorship Deadline Oct. 17 for A&M International's Dusty Fun Run and Walk

Texas A&M International University is accepting community sponsorships through Oct. 17 for the 2000 Dusty Fun Run and Walk, an athletic event aimed at raising additional scholarships for students at A&M International.

Four sponsorship levels are available, $2,000 Charter Member, $1,000 Extreme Sponsor, $500 Iron Sponsor, and $250 Performance Sponsor. Benefits for all sponsorship levels include inclusion in all promotions and listing in the University Annual Report and Prism Magazine. Additional sponsorship benefits for Charter Members and Extreme Sponsors include complimentary entries, logo on the official t-shirt, event information table, and logo on event website.

Among the corporate sponsors providing support for the student scholarship fundraising event are Wells Fargo-Laredo, Sol Communications, and Mejia Engineering.

Providing refreshments for the event are Coca-Cola Bottling of Laredo, Cavazos Candy, Produce and Grocery Wholesale, Inc., Holiday Inn Civic Center, and Hampton Inn.

The Dusty Fun Run and Walk is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Nov. 11 on the A&M International campus. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with races starting at 8:30 a.m. Participants can take part in competitive 5K and 10K runs or a non-competitive two-mile Fun Walk. Competing groups for both males and females includes ages 12 and under, 13 - 16, 17 - 20, 21 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69, 70 - and above.

A&M International President Dr. Charles Jennett said last year's event attracted over 180 runners and walkers and he hopes this year's event will draw even more participants.

"Community support is essential to student success at A&M International. The Dusty Fun Run and Walk is a fun way for everyone from grade school students to grandparents to help support student scholarships. It is also a way for community partners to invest in the future of our youth. We encourage more businesses to come forward and support the event and student scholarships, " said Dr. Jennett.
