Two new sponsors have added their support to Texas A&M International University's 2000 Dusty Fun Run and Walk, an athletic event aimed at raising additional scholarships for students at A&M International.

BP Newman Investment Co. and Popeye's of Laredo are the newest sponsors of the student scholarship fundraising event. Other corporate sponsors include Wells Fargo-Laredo, Sol Communications, and Mejia Engineering.

Race Refreshment Sponsors are Cavazos Candy Produce and Grocery Wholesale, Inc., Coca-Cola Bottling of Laredo, the Holiday Inn Civic Center, and the Hampton Inn.

Nanette Dion, associate director of development at A&M International, said the University is grateful for the support because community partnerships are crucial for the institution's success.

"A&M International has been the fortunate recipient of kind assistance from the State of Texas but we know that we cannot rely on this help alone. That's why we continue to seek community partners who are ready to help support our students. The Dusty Fun Run and Walk is an opportunity to invest in the future of our youth, and we encourage more businesses to come forward and support the event and student scholarships," Dion said.

Sponsors interested in assisting the Dusty Fun Run and Walk should contact Dion at 326-2168 or by email at ndion@tamiu.edu.

Four sponsorship levels are available, $2,000 Charter Member, $1,000 Extreme Sponsor, $500 Iron Sponsor, and $250 Performance Sponsor. Benefits for all sponsorship levels include inclusion in all promotions and listing in the University Annual Report and Prism Magazine. Additional sponsorship benefits for Charter Members and Extreme Sponsors include complimentary entries, logo on the official t-shirt, event information table, and logo on event website.
