Halloween Spirit is Up with A&M International's Halloween Hoops

Halloween celebrations can take various forms and a new offering this year is "Halloween Hoops," a basketball tournament at Texas A&M International University Oct. 21-22 in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building.

Dr. Shelly Peacock, kinesiology instructor and tournament organizer, said people of all ages are invited to participate.

"We encourage everyone in the community to consider this tournament as part of their Halloween activities," Dr. Peacock said, "It is a healthy and fun way to celebrate the Halloween spirit."

Peacock said that the format will be a double elimination 3-on-3 tournament and that several divisions will include teams of women, men and co-eds. All proceeds will benefit the A&M International fitness and sport and community programs.

Registration for the tournament is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20 from 6-9 p.m. in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building. Game schedules will also be available on this date. The tournament will start at Saturday, Oct. 21 at 8 a.m.

Tournament divisions include: A) 13 and under, B) 14-18, C) 19-24, D) 25-35, E) over 35. Co-ed teams must have two players from each gender.

Entry fees are $40 for divisions A and B and $60 for divisions C, D, and E.
