If you are seeking future employment opportunities, a job fair trip Texas A&M International University is organizing to Kingsville on Wednesday, Oct. 11 might interest you.

A&M International's Office of Career Services will offer a trip to the Texas A&M University - Kingsville Job Fair, where more than 80 companies and organizations will be recruiting for full-time and part-time positions as well as internships.

The trip is free of charge and seats are available for A&M International students, alumni and community members, said Viky García, director of Career Services. The group will leave Laredo at 8 a.m. and return by 5 p.m.

Those interested in attending must contact García by Tuesday, Oct. 10. They must bring copies of résumés and dress in professional attire.

García said Career Services offers free job fair trips every semester to acquaint students, alumni and community members with numerous career opportunities available.

"Job fairs allow participants to interact with potential employers and learn about positions they have available," García said. "What many people do not realize is that there are many benefits to attending such fairs. A job fair is not necessarily set up to get you an immediate job. It is set up to prepare you for a future job."

García said two more trips are planned for the Fall semester. They will take place Nov. 13 in Houston and Nov. 16 in San Antonio.

Companies and organizations scheduled to attend the Kingsville job fair include the Koch Petroleum Group, H.E.B. Grocery Company, Cargill, Inc., Dallas County Sheriff's Department, Houston Police Department, City of McAllen, Lower Colorado River Authority, Walgreens, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army Health Care Recruiting, U.S. Navy, Temple-Inland Forest Products and Sherwin Williams and others.

For further information, please contact García at 326-2260 or visit offices located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library 157 or e-mail career_services@tamiu.edu. University office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
