One of Texas A&M International University's newest student organizations, the Rotaract Club, was honored by their mentor organization, the Laredo Under Seven Flags Rotary Club, with a dinner held at the Executive Club.

The event included an inaugural ceremony that marked the Rotaract Club's official recognition by Rotary International. The A&M International Rotaract Club is now recognized by Rotary International as one of over 6,750 Rotaract Clubs in 146 countries worldwide, each working under the guidance of a local Rotary Club.

The A&M International Rotaract Club is under the guidance and sponsorship of the Laredo Under Seven Flags Rotary Club.

As part of the inaugural ceremony Rotaract Club officers for 2000-20001 were officially installed. They are Maria G. Garcia, president; Jaime Ayala, vice-president; Christina Guerra, secretary; Veronica Campos, secretary; and Jessica Ostos, treasurer.

The Rotaract Club is an international service organization. The Club's goals are to develop professional and leadership skills; develop knowledge and understanding of the needs, problems and opportunities in the community and worldwide; and provide opportunities for personal and group activities to serve the community and promote international understanding and goodwill to all people.

Rotaract Club activities include formal meetings, presentations by featured speakers, tours of local businesses, cultural activities, discussions, service project work, social events, and professional and leadership development workshops.
