A&M International Professors Present Lectures for VMT School's Hispanic Heritage Festival

Students at the Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts will explore the importance of Guerrero Viejo to regional history and enjoy an aural history of Texas-Mexico border music as part of the School's eighth annual presentation of its Hispanic Heritage Festival Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Texas A&M International University faculty members Dr. Carlos E. Cuellar, assistant professor of History and Dr. Rachel Y. Cruz, assistant professor of Music, will present special student lectures Tuesday as part of the school's month-long observation.

Dr. Cuellar will lecture on his efforts to preserve the history of Guerrero Viejo through the recently launched "Guerrero Viejo Archives Preservation Project."

Dr. Cruz will present a lecture-recital on the history of the music of the Texas-Mexican border region, with an emphasis on the development of the traditional Mariachi Band. Cruz directs the University's Mariachi Internacional.
