Next time you think of an alternative to movie going, consider attending a free seasonal video presentation at Texas A&M International University that will assist the needy.

The A&M International History Club will sponsor a video presentation on "The History of Thanksgiving" Thursday, Nov. 16 from 7 -8 p.m. in Dr. F.M. Canseco Hall 101.

Those attending are encouraged to bring canned food items that the Club will donate to a local charity.

Enrique Lobo, Club president, said the presentation will introduce viewers to the spirit of Thanksgiving and the historic meaning of the celebration.

"The video is part of a program that ran on the History Channel and features historians explaining the evolution of the Thanksgiving celebration from the Pilgrims to the present. Also, the video covers how Thanksgiving became a day for football games and the official start of the Christmas shopping season " Lobo said, "We thought this would also be a perfect opportunity for us to collect food items and share the joy of Thanksgiving with the less fortunate."

The History Club is a 25-member student organization that promotes the learning of history among the student population.

For further information, please contact Lobo at 326-2723 or call the Office of Public Affairs at 326-2180. University office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
