Medieval Festival Names Winners

The winners of various competitions at last weekend's first-ever Medieval Festival at Texas A&M International University have been announced.

Sigma Tau Delta and the Student Government Association sponsored the free event which attracted over 300 participants to a fair-like atmosphere celebrating Middle Age culture and literature.

Contests and their respective winners follow:

Art Contest - Best of Show, Melissa Castellano; University/College:1st Gema L. Paredes, 2nd Monica Suarez, 3rd Gilbert Cerda. High School and Under: 1st Zulema Garza, 2nd Daniel Tijerina, 3rd (tie) Victor Herrera,Nancy Colchado.

Costume Contest - 12 years and under, Female: 1st Christina Garcia, 2nd Andrea Paredes. 12 years and under, Male: 1st Soljad Fjelstad. 13 years and older, Female: 1st Marlene McGee, 2nd Stephanie Paez, 3rd Carol Shockley. 13 years and older, Male: 1st Pete Paredes, 2nd Kaj Fjelstad, 3rd Sam Sanchez.

Reading Contest - 1st Robert Orduna, 2nd Ashley Mitchell, 3rd Sean McGee.
