Texas A&M International University will conclude its "Manifestations of 'Noir' " film series with a screening of "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in Bullock Hall, room 101.

The screening is open to the public and free of charge.

The 1982 American film noir comedy crime thriller should end the film series with laughs, said Fall Film Series organizers Dr. Sean Chadwell, assistant professor of English, and Dr. William Nichols, assistant professor of Spanish.

"The Fall Film Series ends with this extraordinary film that through imitating the models of the noir movement will make the viewers laugh and enjoy good cinematography for the last time this semester," Dr. Nichols said.

"Dead Men Don't Were Plaid," is a noir film but is a parody of noir at the same time, he explained.

Rated PG, the 1982 American film was directed and produced by Carl Reiner.

When a noted scientist dies, the man's daughter Juliet Forrest (Rachel Ward) hires Rigby Reardon, a two-bit private eye (Steve Martin) to prove that her father was murdered. Intrigued and enamored, Reardon takes on the assignment, which leads him from one classic encounter after another, all on his search for the infamous Carlotta's List..

Drs. Chadwell and Nichols will briefly introduce the film and profile its stylistic and thematic debt to noir before viewing. At the film's conclusion, informal discussion will be held to answer questions and allow audience members to share their comments on the film.

Nichols also confirmed that a film series is planned next semester, with details announced at a later time.
