Students from Texas A&M International University's Environment Protection Society (EPS) will help conserve Laredo's natural resources by participating in the "Paso Del Indio Adopt A Trail Program" Saturday, December 9.

The A&M International students will work from 8 a.m. - 12 noon on one of the trail's 30 sections. Located at the Rio Grande International Study Center on the Laredo Community College campus, the Paso Del Indio Nature Trail was constructed for community use in 1995. The Trail is maintained with the help of volunteers who participate in the "Adopt A Trail Program."

Each section adopted by a community organization is marked with a special plaque. Organizations that are involved in the "Adopt A Trail Program" include the United Day School, Nye Elementary, F.S. Lara Academy, Science Venture Club-Laredo Community College, and the Webb County Master Gardeners Association.

The University's Environment Protection Society will formally adopt a section of the Trail on Saturday.

The EPS is an officially chartered University student organization. A&M International students formed the organization to protect and improve the Earth's natural resources, raise awareness of environmental issues, protect endangered species, work for a clean environment, promote student participation and encourage dialog and interaction among students.

Membership is open to all A&M International students. Community members may also be admitted to the EPS, at its discretion.

For further information, please contact EPS president Eduardo Gonzalez at 712-0001 or by email at wayog@hotmail.com or EPS faculty sponsor Dr. Julio Valladares at 326-2590.

University office hours are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
