Students who will enroll at Texas A&M International University for the first time this Spring are invited to attend a New Student Orientation at the University Thursday, Jan. 4, from 5:30 - 8 p.m. in the Great Room (Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library room 319).

Event organizer Gabriela Mendoza-Garcia, associate director of Student Development at A&M International, said the Orientation will provide useful information about the transition students will face during their first year at A&M International and practical information on the University in general.

"Orientation will provide participants with insight about the changes students will face as they begin their studies at A&M International this Spring. Additionally, frequently asked questions will be answered and basic information about the University, with a focus on free services available to A&M International students such as tutoring, career planning, and health services will be provided," explained Mendoza-Garcia.

The Orientation program will begin with a welcome and introduction for all participants. Four concurrent programs, for new freshmen, new transfer students, new graduate students, and family and guests of new students, will follow.

New students will participate in sessions on academic success, career planning, and free services offered by the University.

Family and guests will participate in special sessions that offer insight on how to help their student make the transition to A&M International and how to cope with the changes and impact University life will have on them.

Also included in the Orientation program is an Information Fair that will provide participants with an opportunity to meet with and gather information from representatives of the University's Financial Aid, Student Development, Career Planning, and Student Health Services offices.
