Registration Deadline for Free Ballet Folklorico Workshop Is Jan. 24

Wednesday, Jan. 24 is the deadline to register for a free two-day "Mexican Folklorico from A to Z" workshop to be held at Texas A&M International University January 27 - 28.

The free two-day workshop is open to students who have at least one year of folklorico dance experience and are at least 15 years old.

Master folklorico dance teacher Pedro Serna will conduct the workshop at the University's Kinesiology/Convocation Building on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 3 - 7 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 28 from 12 - 4 p.m.

Serna will provide instruction on the basics of folkloric dances from Aguascalientes, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Colima, and Distrito Federal (Mexico City).

Workshop registration forms may be obtained by calling Gabriela Mendoza Garcia, Director of A&M International's Ballet Folklorico group, at 326 2280.

The workshop is sponsored by the University's Ballet Folklorico group with funding from the Texas Commission of the Arts and the City of Laredo.
