Area businesses, non-profit organizations, government agencies and school districts are invited to register to participate in "Global Opportunities 2001," Texas A&M International University's career and job fair, organizers said.

Virginia Garcia, director of Career Services at A&M International, said this year's fair will take place Thursday, March 8 from 1-5 p.m. in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building.

"Global Opportunities 2001" provides a forum for A&M International students, alumni and community members to meet with prospective employers, learn about possible employment opportunities and hear advice on career planning, she said.

Employers are encouraged to participate in the fair and share information about full-time and part-time employment or internship and volunteer opportunities available at their organization, Garcia said.

"Last year, we had more than 100 representatives from local, regional and national employers participate in 'Global Opportunities,'" Garcia said, "We would like to encourage local employers to participate in this worthwhile event. The impact professionals make could mean a difference to the future workforce."

The registration deadline and fee for participating employers is Jan. 19, Garcia said.
