High School Students to Meet A&M International Administrators, Faculty at Top Scholar Dinner

High school seniors and their families will get a taste of University life Wednesday, Jan. 17 when they meet with Texas A&M International University top administrators and faculty members during a dinner reception to be held in their honor.

The Second Annual Top Scholar Dinner, scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, will welcome top high school students who have applied and been admitted to A&M International for the Fall 2001 semester. Students are those graduating in the top 25 percent of their class and who have earned scores of 1,000 on the SAT and 22 on the ACT.

The program will also include a welcome address by A&M International President Dr. Charles Jennett and an award ceremony.

Veronica Gonzalez, director of Enrollment Management, said approximately 60 students from South Texas and the nation have been invited to attend.

"This dinner will mark another highlight in A&M International's history and we are pleased to welcome these outstanding students to our campus," Gonzalez said. "In addition to the students and families, high school counselors and principals have also been invited to share this important moment."

Students attending the reception represent Alexander High School; Berwick Senior High, Penn.; Cigarroa High School; Eagle Pass/CC Winn High School; Freer High School; Hebbronville High School Lloyd V Bekner High School; Lytle High School; Martin High School; Mission High School, Mission; Nixon High School; Oliver Holmes High School, San Antonio; Parkland High School, El Paso; Riverside High School, El Paso; San Benito High School, San Benito; St. Augustine High School; South San Antonio West Campus; United High School; United South High School and Zapata High School.

Hachar Honors Program is March 1 and the admissions deadline for first-time students is Aug. 1.
