Texas A&M International University will hold an Orientation for International Students Friday, Jan. 5 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.

David VerMilyea, director of Student Development, said the Orientation for International Students, which is held in addition to the traditional New Student Orientation, is designed to introduce new international students to the U.S. system of higher education.

"We will also be talking about immigration regulations and laws relevant to living on the international border. Also, we will review requirements for travel within the United States and have a tour of local points of interest," VerMilyea said.

The students will also meet other new and current international students.

"They will also have an opportunity to sign up for the International Support Network Friendship Family Program, which will allow them to meet a local family that will serve as their support," VerMilyea said.

The new students represent numerous countries including China, India, Colombia, France, Germany and Holland, to name a few, VerMilyea said.
