'Brindis,' Special Lectures Set at A&M International

As part of its special events planned for March and April, Texas A&M International University's Women's and Gender Studies Committee will be sponsoring a variety of lecturers and activities that are open to the public.

On Thursday, March 22 at 11:00 in C-Building 214, former Women's and Gender Studies students Amanda Cormier and Betty Guevara will present two lectures, "A History of Women and Marriage" and "Hispanic Women in Higher Education," respectively.

On Wednesday, March 28 at 6 p.m., the annual community poster demonstration followed by the traditional "Brindis a la mujer," a toast to women on both sides of the border, will be held in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Great Room (319). Refreshments will be served.

Presentations planned in April are as follows:

On Thursday, April 5 at 11:00 in C-Building 214, Tracy Moffatt, vice president for Clinical Resources Management at Mercy Health Center, will present "A Woman Administrator in Health Care: Insights and Challenges."

On Thursday, April 12 at 11:00 in C-Building 214, Laura Diaz, Counselor at Casa de Misericordia, will present her lecture, "Violence Against Women."

On Thursday, April 19 at 11:00 in C-Building 214, Sharon Cruz and Rebecca Sepulveda, A&M International graduate students in History, will present "A History of Land Ownership by Women in Webb County."
