A special scholarship fundraiser dinner March 26 at Texas A&M International University featuring longtime ABC News national correspondent Sam Donaldson has sold out.

Lisa Morales, director of development, said community response for the event, "Dinner With...Sam Donaldson, A Benefit for Student Scholarship," was quick and heartening.

"We've been very excited with community response to our first in the occasional 'Dinner With' series that supports much-needed student scholarships at A&M International. We're looking forward to presenting an insightful evening with one of the nation's most respected journalists, " she said.

Morales said that while the 260-seat event is sold out, the University is currently taking names in the event of cancellations by ticket holders.

"We would encourage individuals that are still interested in attending to contact us at 326.2175. We will hold their name in the event of a cancellation," she explained.

The event will get underway Monday, March 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library. The evening's seated dinner at 6:30 p.m. will be by Don Strange of Texas.

Donaldson is co-anchor of "20/20" and co-anchor with Cokie Roberts, of the ABC News Sunday morning broadcast, "This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts."

A 30-year news veteran and former Chief White House Correspondent, he was born in El Paso and he received his Bachelor's degree from Texas Western College.

Among his many awards are three Emmy Awards and a George Foster Peabody Award. His 1987 autobiography, Hold on Mr. President, was an international best-seller.
