David Lynch's brooding experimental film classic, "Eraserhead" will be shown at Texas A&M International University on Tuesday, March 20 at 7 p.m. in Bullock Hall room 118.

Admission is free of charge and open to the public.

As Lynch's directoral debut, the film tells the story of a zombie-like misfit, his spastic girlfriend, and their half-human offspring. Augmented with extraordinary visuals and a haunting soundtrack percolated with special effects, it offers a hint of things to come in Lynch's later films, including "Blue Velvet." The film is rated R and includes often disturbing images and language.

"Eraserhead" is the third of a 12-film "Contemporary American Auteurs" Spring Film Series organized by Dr. Sean Chadwell, assistant professor of English, and Dr. William Nichols, assistant professor of Spanish.

Drs. Chadwell and Nichols introduce each film in the Series and profile the film's director. After each film, they lead an informal forum for viewers to share their opinions and impressions of the films.

The remaining films in the Series, including films by Ethan and Joel Coen, and John Sayle, are as follows:

March 27 - "Wild At Heart" (1990)

April 3 - "Blood Simple" (1984)

April 10 - "The Big Lebowski" (1998)

April 17 - "Brother from Another Planet" (1984)

April 24 - "Men with Guns" (1997)

The Spring Film Series is held on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. in Bullock Hall room 118.
