"Raise the Red Lantern" Final in March Film Series at A&M International

The fourth and final film in the "Women and Gender Studies Primavera Film Festival: An International Look at Gender Issues," will be presented Thursday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Bullock Hall 101. Admission is free of charge and open to the public.

"Raise the Red Lantern," is a 1991 Chinese film based on the novel Wives and Concubines by Su Tong. The unrated film contains mature themes and will be presented in Mandarin with English subtitles. Introduction and commentary for the film will be provided by Dr. Xiaoming Zhang, A&M International assistant professor of history and a native of China.

The four-part film series began in March and is being presented as part of the University's celebration of Women's History Month. The series is coordinated by the Women's and Gender Studies Program.
