"Men With Guns," a film by director John Sayles, will be presented Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in Bullock Hall room 118 at Texas A&M International University.

Admission is free of charge and open to the public.

"Men With Guns," was released in 1998 and is rated R. The film stars Federico Luppi and Damian Delgado and questions the notion of what helping people really means.

The story focuses on a dedicated, idealistic Mexican doctor who decides to track down former students from a government-sponsored program to bring good medicine to remote villages and tribes. This trek becomes an odyssey of discovery for the affluent but naive doctor.

Sayles went on direct such critically acclaimed films as "Lone Star," "Passion Fish," "Matewan" and "Something Wild."

"Men With Guns" is the last film in the "Contemporary American Auteurs" Spring Film Series organized by Dr. Sean Chadwell, assistant professor of English, and Dr. William Nichols, assistant professor of Spanish.

Drs. Chadwell and Nichols introduce each film in the Series and profile the film's director. They lead an informal forum afterwards for viewers to share their opinions and impressions of the films.
