University's College of Science and Technology Hosts Mini-Conference Saturday, April 28

An opportunity to learn from student, faculty and guest researchers will be hosted by Texas A&M International University's College of Science and Technology at its Annual Mini-Conference Saturday, April 28, 2001 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Bullock Hall 216.

The event is free of charge and open to the public.

Among topics scheduled are those that look at insect behavior, habitat and diversity of insects indigenous to the University campus including harvester ants, wolf spiders, and beetles and a bird survey of the campus.

Other topics will include "A Survey of Avian Wildlife at Lake Casablanca State Park, Laredo, Texas;" "Radial Distribution Functions for Ideal Orifices;" "Diversity of Macroinvertebrates in the Rio Grande Upstream and Downstream of Laredo, TX;" "A Study of a Bat Colony at I-35 and Shilo Drive in Laredo, Texas;" "Toxicity Assessment of Rio Grande Waters at Laredo, TX;" "Sediment Toxicity of the Rio Grande at Laredo, TX and "Potential of Manadas Creek to Adversely Effect the Water Quality of the Rio Grande."

Additional topics include "Admittance Function Analysis of Venus Gravity and Topography Data;" "Chemical Analysis of the Soils at Texas A&M International University;" and "What the Drought Center can do for You."
