Texas A&M International University will celebrate the arrival of spring with a concert featuring string instruments Monday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library (319).

The "Strings for Spring" concert will present the A&M International Chamber Ensemble with special guests including The Cigarroa High School String Trio and The J.W. Nixon High School Orchestra.

The event is free and open to the public.

Jennifer Cahill Clark, visiting assistant professor of music, said the works of Mandelssohn Bartholdy, Mozart, Boccherini and Beethoven will be among those interpreted at the concert.

"We will also include a light music program that will entertain people of all ages with popular themes from the films Schindler's List and Ice Castles. In addition, we will play Meredith Willson's "Till There was You," from the musical The Music Man and a traditional Mexican piece, 'Jesusita en Chihuahua,'" Cahill Clark said, "While this is a spring celebration, it is also a time for students to take a break from their studies and enjoy a music presentation that will soothe ears and relax minds."
