Alpha Kappa Delta Sets Initiation at A&M International

Texas A&M International University's Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) International Sociology Honor Society will host its New Member Initiation Ceremony Friday, May 11, 2001 at 4 p.m.in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.

The Ceremony is free of charge and open to the public and will serve to induct nine new members. The total number of AKD members will now be 31.

New members include: Nancy Degollado, Maria Luisa Elizondo, Toni Garza, Roberto A. Limon Jr., Gabriel Medina, Aurelia Lorena Murga, Patricia A. Ramirez, Pete Rodriguez and Susana R. Sarmiento

AKD is an international sociological honor society with thousands of members throughout the world. The name, Alpha Kappa Delta, implies "social research for the purpose of service."

A&M International was awarded its charter in 1997 with an initial 7 members. The chapter has since added 24 members. Faculty sponsor for AKD is Dr. Cecilia Garza, associate professor of sociology and chair of the department of sociology/psychology at A&M International.

AKD is but one of over 40 diverse student clubs or organizations ranging from Ballet Folklorico to Rotaract that are active on the A&M International campus.
