Texas A&M International University is helping new military service people realize their higher education dreams through a concurrent admissions program that allows them to stay in touch with their hometown University.

The Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAP), of which A&M International is a participating institution, is a joint program of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges and over 1,400 participating higher education institutions which targets simultaneous admission for new military service people to an institution of higher education.

Maria Rosillo, director of Admissions, said the ConAP will allow military service people to apply for admission at A&M International as they begin their military duties.

"Once they are discharged, they can automatically enroll at A&M International," Rosillo said, "This allows them to achieve their academic dreams without an interruption."

Rosillo said the program allows for participants' easier access to A&M International information while they are on active-duty.

"Information they can receive includes updates on deadlines, new programs and offerings," Rosillo said.

Participating students can also receive educational benefits such as those provided by the Montgomery GI Bill and the Army College Fund, Rosillo said.

Those interested in participating must request an application form at the A&M International Admissions Office at the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, 155D.

For further information, please contact Rosillo at 326-2442. University office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
