"People's Law School" Explores Aspects of Law at A&M International

Texas A&M International University's Pre-Law Society, a chartered student organization, and local legal service organizations invite the community to a one day course for non-lawyers consisting of four law classes taught by judges and attorneys Saturday, May 5 from 1 - 7 p.m. in various rooms in Bullock Hall.

The "People's Law School" is a free course that focuses on family, immigration and criminal laws as well as small claims at justice of the courts.

Virginia Garcia, Pre-Law Society sponsor, said that the course is designed to educate the community on issues relating to law.

"This course is for people who want to know more about their rights and how the court system works as well as their immigration rights," Garcia said.

The classes will be taught in both English and Spanish.

Organizers also include the Laredo Webb County Bar Association, Laredo Young Lawyers Association, Texas Young Lawyers Association and Coastal Bend Legal Services.

Registration forms are available at the A&M International Office of Career Services, Coastal Bend Legal Services, or at the Webb County District Attorney's Office. The first 200 students to register will be given a t-shirt and text book.
