While summer, for many, is a time to unwind and take a vacation somewhere, students are grabbing the opportunity to advance coursework for their degrees at Texas A&M International University through a wide range of courses to be offered this summer.

Registration for Summer Session I and the Long Summer Session at A&M International is June 1 from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Late registration will continue through June 5. SSI classes start June 4.

Registration for Summer Session II is July 9 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Late registration will continue through July 11. SSII classes will begin July 10.

Maria Rosillo, director of Admissions, said the University encourages students and community members of all ages to register and enroll in courses that will enrich their lives and help them speed their degree progress.

"This is also a time for first-time students or beginning graduate students to get a head start before classes start in the Fall. Also, this is a great opportunity for those who want to further their education to start taking courses. Many teachers take advantage of the summer sessions in this way. Students who are enrolled in other institutions can also take this chance to advance their studies here before returning," Rosillo said.

Courses offered during both summer sessions are geared for a variety of interests and range from Flamenco and Piano to Personal Finance and Algebra, Rosillo said.

For further information, please contact the Office of Admissions at 326-2200. Office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday and 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
