Keck Named President of Texas A&M International University

Prairie View - The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents today named Dr. Ray Keck III as president of Texas A&M International Universtiy in Laredo. Keck, presently provost and vice president for academic affairs at A&M International, will succeed Dr. Charles Jennett who is retiring Aug. 31.

Chancellor Howard Graves said, "Dr. Keck was hightly recommended by the presidential search committee. He is well qualified to lead this institution, and I believe he will make an excellent president."

Keck originally came to Laredo State University, now Texas A&M International University, in 1979. He worked at the University until 1983, serving as assistatn professor of Spanish and assistant to the president. Keck returned in January 1994 as associate professor of Spanish. He served as chair of The Department of Language, Literature, and Art, and professor of Spanish before being appointed provost and vice president.

Prior to returning to A&M International, Keck held teaching and administrative positions with several secondary schools. He holds a doctorate in romance languages and literature from Princeton University.

Keck and his wife, Patricia, have three daughters.

Texas A&M International University's 300-acre campus serves 3,200 students who primarily reside in Laredo and surrounding Webb County. The student population represents more than 30 different countries.
