It's now one degree warmer at Texas A&M International University. A new Masters in Curriculum and Instruction will be added to the University's degree inventory this Fall. The degree becomes the 54th degree available at A&M International.

University president Dr. Charles Jennett said the new degree is the latest in a continuous effort to develop programs that are responsive to the needs of the University's growing service community.

"A University must constantly respond to the needs of the communities it serves. This is an important degree for our educational professionals and will provide area school districts with an increased supply of individuals who will be able to address the tremendous demand for curriculum and instruction specialists in the education community," Dr. Jennett said.

Dr. Rosa Maria Vida, dean of the University's College of Education, said the degree is highly specialized and will become a stepping stone for a collaborative doctoral degree now underway.

"There is a great need for curriculum and instruction specialists across the State and nation. These highly trained professionals guide the development of curriculums to capture core competencies and targeted student performance standards, playing a pivotal role in education delivery. "This degree is also important because it will function as a stepping stone to our collaborative doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, which is offered jointly with Texas A&M University," she explained.
