Texas A&M International University's new president, Dr. Ray M. Keck, will be installed as the University's fifth president in ceremonies scheduled for Friday, Aug. 31, 2001.

The day is historic for the University as it marks the conclusion of its year-long 30th Anniversary Celebration, "Dreams to Reality," the first Convocation to involve students and the transfer of the institution's leadership from retiring president Dr. Charles Jennett to Dr. Keck.

Convocation, the traditional meeting of faculty prior to the start of the semester, will be expanded to include students and will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. in the Kinesiology-Convocation Building. University offices will close at 3:30 p.m. so that all members of the University community can participate in the event. Late registration for the Fall Semester will end at 3 p.m.

At approximately 5 p.m., at the Convocation's conclusion, an installation ceremony will be held for Dr. Keck. The Texas A&M University System Chancellor, Howard Graves, and Members of the System Board of Regents and various city, county and state leaders are scheduled to join in the Installation.

Following the Installation, a special 30th Anniversary Celebration Outdoor Picnic and Bar-B-Q will be held in front of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library from 6 - 9 p.m. Music will be provided by Kaktus and food and refreshments will be served.
