The Chapter, to be known as the Omega Upsilon Chapter, was initiated last week with five student and three faculty members inducted. Dr. Rafael Lecuona, A&M International professor of political science and a Pi Sigma Alpha member from his student days at Florida State University, presided over the ceremony.

Student members inducted were: Eliud Joel Garcia, Jr., Lizzeth Gamboa, Braulio Gloria, Carlos Andres Medina and Hilda Negrete.

Faculty members inducted were Dr. Mohamed A. Ben-Ruwin, assistant professor of political science; Dr. James A. Norris, assistant professor of political science and Society sponsor and founder, and Dr. Nasser Momayezi, professor and chair of the Department of Social Sciences.

Pi Sigma Alpha was founded in 1920 at the University of Texas to encourage and recognize superior achievement in the study of government and politics. It is the only recognized college honor society for the discipline of political science.

Students invited to join the honor society must have a grade point average above 3.0 in political science courses, have taken at least 12 semester hours of political science, and be in the top third of their class.
