You're never too old to learn...and the State of Texas is willing to waive up to six hours of tuition fees for study for senior citizens this Fall at Texas A&M International University.

University Registrar Barbara Lunce said the waiver represents a great opportunity for students.

"We've seen steady interest in this program, especially from recent retirees who look to higher education as an opportunity to further enrich their lives. It's clear that students of all ages benefit from education throughout their lifetime. Also, the presence of these students also brings additional diversity to our student body," Lunce said.

The special exemption can be claimed by senior citizens aged 65 or older who comply with normal admission requirements, registration procedures and course pre-requisites. Other fees, such as books, lab fees and special fees still apply, but the waiver represents a 40% discount on usual tuition expenses.

In order to claim the waiver, interested seniors will need to present a valid Texas driver's license or other ID showing date of birth at the Business Office.
