"Jamón, Jamón" Third Film in A&M International's Feasting on Light: 2001 Fall Film Festival

Texas A&M International University's Fall Film Festival: "Feasting on Light" continues to celebrate our relationship with food in the third film in the series, Jamón, Jamón. The film will be shown Wednesday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Bullock Hall 101 and is free and open to the public.

Steamy, sexy and bitingly funny, Jamón, Jamón is a complicated love story set in a small Spanish town known for its ham and its underwear. Subtitled "A Tale of Ham and Passion," the film takes the link between food and sexuality/sensuality far beyond the usual.

Jamón, Jamón won the Venice Film Festival Silver Lion award in 1992 and was also nominated for Best Director, Best Film, Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress Best Screenplay and Best Sound in the 1993 Goya Awards, the national film awards for Spain.

The film is shown in Spanish with English subtitles and is not rated, but contains strong sexual content and language.

After the show, there will be 15 to 30 minutes of commentary and questions and answers, led by Dr. Sean M. Chadwell and Dr. William J. Nichols II, both assistant professors in the College of Arts and Humanities, and series creators.

The next film in the series, Like Water for Chocolate, will be shown on October 3. In Spanish with English subtitles, this romantic, magical realism story of love and cooking is a beautiful feast for the senses.
