Judge Tijerina to Speak on Women, Minority Law Experiences at A&M International

Students and community members interested in knowing about the experiences of women and minorities in law are invited to attend a guest lecture by Municipal Court Judge Rosaura Tijerina Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. in Texas A&M International University's Bullock Hall, 101.

The presentation, titled, "Women and Minorities in Law" is part of a guest speaker series offered by the A&M International Pre-Law Society, a chartered University student organization.

Tijerina, who has practiced law since 1989, holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.

Besides serving as the first municipal court judge for the City of Laredo, she is an instructor of criminal justice at Laredo Community College and an active member in organizations including the American Bar Association; Texas Bar Association, Laredo, Webb County Bar Association, Webb County Woman's Bar Association; United Way; Delta Kappa Gamma; Texas Junior College Teachers Association; Community College Criminal Justice Education of Texas; and the American Association of University Women.

She is a board member of Laredo Crime Stoppers, Stop Child Abuse and Neglect, the Children's Advocacy Center, and Laredo Boys and Girls Club.
