Dr. Suzette Bishop, instructor in Texas A&M International University's language and literature department, has her fingers crossed.

Her poem "Hannah Hoch" has been selected as one of 20 finalists from more than 700 entries in the Annual Poetry Contest of So to Speak: A Feminist Journal of Language and Art. The journal is published by George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia. Bishop could win a cash prize and also see her poem published in the respected journal.

Hannah Hoch (1889-1978) was a German Dadaist visual artist. Her photomontages pieced together images from classical sculptures, African statues and other photographs to create arresting, thought-provoking figures.

Dr. Bishop is teaching Creative Writing this semester at A&M International.
