301/302 Ninth Film in A&M International's Feasting on Light: 2001 Fall Film Festival

The ninth film in Texas A&M International University's Fall Film Festival Series: "Feasting on Light" is 301/302. The film will be shown Wednesday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Bullock Hall 101 and is free and open to the public.

The festival's theme -- food and our relationship to it -- is examined in detail in this Korean film. Director Chui-Soo Park introduces the viewer to an anorexic who lives in apartment 302 and her neighbor, an obsessive chef who lives in apartment 301. The story begins in the middle as a police investigation is being conducted to learn the whereabouts of the missing occupant of 302. Through flashbacks, tight cinematography and some graphic detail, we learn about each woman's past and the forces that shape their personalities - not to mention the solution to the mysterious disappearance.

A very dark comedy, viewers will be drawn into the psychological drama and intrigued by the relationship between the two women.

The film will be shown in Korean with English subtitles. It is not rated, but does contain some graphic scenes, making it not suitable for all viewers.

After the show, there will be 15 to 30 minutes of commentary and questions and answers, led by Series creators Dr. Sean M. Chadwell and Dr. William J. Nichols II, both assistant professors in the College of Arts and Humanities.

The next showing in the Series will feature two short films: Garlic is as Good as Ten Mothers and Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe. Both will be shown on November 14.
