The 11th offering of Texas A&M International University's Fall Film Festival Series: "Feasting on Light" is A Chef in Love. The film will be shown Wednesday, November 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Bullock Hall 101 and is free and open to the public.

Georgian director Nana Dzhordzhadze examines her country before and after Communism using a love affair between a famous French chef and a Georgian princess as the film's vehicle. In the first half of the film, one can feast on the rich cinematography as well as the mouth-watering food. The title character, chef Pascal Ichac, helps the viewer experience the richness and beauty of the area as well as the wearying, depressing control of the Communist regime.

Nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 1997 Academy Awards, the film demonstrates the festival's theme of the relationship of food to life, showing the splendor and decline of a culture through the chef's creations. The film contends that this too shall pass, allowing beauty to shine once more.

The film is rated PG-13 for nudity, sexual situations and some images of violence. It will be shown in French, Georgian and Russian, with English subtitles.

After the show, there will be 15 to 30 minutes of commentary and questions and answers, led by Series creators Dr. Sean M. Chadwell and Dr. William J. Nichols II, both assistant professors in the College of Arts and Humanities.

The next and last film in the Series is La Grande Bouffe, which will be shown on December 5.
