At the annual Donor/Scholar Reception, Texas A&M International University scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to say thank you to those who made their dreams possible. The event will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m, Nov. 6, in the Great Room of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.

Lisa Morales, director of development for the Office for Institutional Advancement, said the annual event was important because it gives students the opportunity to say thank you and also allows them to see the ramifications of donor generosity.

"Of course, it's an opportunity for students to personally meet the donors who helped make their education possible. Hopefully, it will also make students realize the importance of giving something back when they're at the same point in their lives. By seeing the example these people have set, maybe one day the students too can be donors, contributors that give back to the community and have this generous spirit of giving," explained Morales.

Morales said that the University was pleased to be able to thank the donors as well.

"Their contributions and scholarships are vital to what we do here. We're always pleased to be able to show them how much it means to everyone in the University community to have such generous support," said Morales.

Expected to speak at the reception are Senator Dr. Judith Zaffirini, Representative Richard Raymond and A&M International President Dr. Ray Keck.

Morales said she expects between 300-400 people at the reception.
