Texas A&M International University's Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library is now helping area residents find government grants ranging from those for education to job training with a workshop entitled "Government Grants."

The workshop will be held on Thursday, February 28 at 6 p.m. in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 206. The session is free and open to the public.

Joshua Been, government information librarian, said the workshop is open to anyone who would like financial help in achieving his or her goals and dreams.

"Grants are monies that the recipient doesn't have to pay back. Both the Federal and State government offer a wide variety of grants for all sorts of purposes. One thing is for sure: if you don't apply for the grant, you aren't going to get it. This workshop can get one started and the information on what's available and how to apply for grants is all here in the library," said Been.

Been explained that a major resource to be discussed in the workshop will be The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance.

"This government document tries to be as comprehensive as possible, listing the grants that are available from the federal government to both individuals and institutions. Our workshop will help participants use the document, via the internet or in print, and assist them in finding any monies that might be available to help them achieve their goals," said Been.

This workshop is one in a planned series. Future topics include Federal and State Laws and Environmentalism.
