Planning for a retirement often presents questions and doubts but a class offered at Texas A&M International University next week may help define a successful retirement path.

The class, "Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement," is geared for people in the early stages of retirement planning as well as for those who are close to retirement and provides participants with in-depth information necessary to plan and enjoy a comfortable retirement.

Offered in two sessions, the class is available for either Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. in the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade, room 103.

The Tuesday class will start Feb. 26 and the Thursday class Feb. 28.

Tuition is $49 and each paid registrant may enroll a spouse or guest for free. Interested persons may register for the class by visiting the University's Office for Special Programs, located in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 332.

Participants will learn how to potentially increase their investment returns and maximize retirement income from representatives of a local investment company.

In addition, strategies to protect assets from inflation, estate and income taxes, and erosion due to long-term health care needs will be discussed.

For further information, please contact the Office for Special Programs at 326-2700. University office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
