TAMIU Presents "Global Opportunities" Job Fair March 20

Texas A&M International University's city-wide job fair, "Global Opportunities," will include over 60 employers during its annual presentation Wednesday, March 20 from 1-5 p.m. in the Kinesiology/Convocation Building.

Virginia García, career services director, said students, alumni and the community are encouraged to attend the event, featuring employers representing the corporate, educational, governmental and non-profit arenas.

The event is free and open to the public.

"Whether you are planning on a career move, going to graduate school or looking for a volunteer opportunity, this career fair promises to have a little bit of everything to help you guide your future interests," García said, "This will also be an ideal setting for you to receive career advice and network."

Employers attending Global Opportunities include AFLAC; various independent school districts, colleges and universities from throughout the state, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Laredo, City of Laredo, City of San Antonio, Border Region Mental Health Mental Retardation Community Center, H.E.B. Grocery Company, Communities In Schools, Deutsche Financial Services, IBC Bank, Kroger, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Laredo National Bank, Laredo Teachers Federal Credit Union, Laredo Police Department, and Mercy Health Center.

Also participating are the various State of Texas departments, branches of the U.S. Department of Treasury and U.S. Department of Justice, Sherwin Williams, and several others.

Schlumberger will also display the "Frac-Cat," an oil drilling machine, for students interested in oil and technology. Companies are also arranging to interview on campus and will be scheduling students at the fair for interview times, García said. Some will also conduct on-the-spot interviews, she added.
