Texas A&M International University's Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library is offering special Research Help Sessions to anyone interested in learning more effective research methods.

A Sue and Radcliffe Killam librarian conducts the sessions every day at noon through Sunday, March 24; every day at 6 p.m. Monday, March 25 through Thursday, March 28; and every day at 4 p.m. Monday, April 1 through Sunday, April 7.

Sessions are open to the public and begin at the reference desk. Individual times can also be scheduled with John Maxstadt, head of public services at Killam Library.

Maxstadt said the sessions can help a library patron discover the resources available, refine the topic of research and raise important questions the researcher might have missed on their own.

"To begin, we'll determine where the researcher is in the process. We can introduce them to the appropriate resources, such as on-line databases and microfilm files, and teach them how to use them. By discussing the research with the librarian, researchers might find that their topics become more focused or they may discover worlds of information that expand their horizons," said Maxstadt.

He said these sessions are a way to get individualized help.

"These sessions will be very tailored to the needs of the individual student or researcher," said Maxstadt.

For more information, please contact Maxstadt at 326.2116, call the library reference desk at 326.2138, or email researchhelp@tamiu.edu.

Killam Library regular hours are Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
