Area Doctors to Get Practice Management Help at TAMIU May 1

Texas A&M International University's College of Business Administration will be helping Laredo physicians, medical practice managers, and other medical personnel adjust to the changes in the medical community with a seminar entitled "Managing Your Medical Practice." at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 1 in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 116.

This seminar is targeted to educate physicians, medical practice managers, and other medical personnel in the key legal, accounting, and financial factors that are critical to a successful practice. Specific topics will include forms of business organizations and their taxability, various business taxes, legal perspectives on business entities, federal compliance, and other relevant financial and accounting considerations.

The trainers will be Joseph Michael Dickerson, Esq., MBA, and adjunct professor of business at A&M International; Raul Garza, Certified Public Accountant; and Dallas Moore, Certified Financial Consultant and Chartered Life Underwriter.

Attendees should call Christina Arredondo at 326-2759 for reservations. Registration fees are $25 for individuals before April 30, and $30 for individuals after April 30. Discount rates are also available for groups of 4 or more who register before April 30.

Dr. Jacqueline Mayfield, co-chair of the Department of Management and Marketing in the College of Business Administration, said the workshop would be able to answer timely questions for people in the medical profession.

"We live in a dynamic health care environment on all levels; national, state, and local. This seminar will clarify several legal, accounting, and financial considerations that are essential in the delivery of high quality health care to Laredo," said Dr. Mayfield.
