Last Public Forum Set for TAMIU Provost Finalist Friday

The last Public Forum for the third of three final candidates for the position of Texas A&M International University provost and vice president for academic affairs is Friday, April 5.

The final forum will feature Dr. Galan Janeksala , dean of the College of Health and Human Services and professor of social and community services at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, and will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Western Hemispheric Trade Center room 116.

Janeksala holds his Ph.D. in sociology from Iowa State University. He has held his current position at UTC since 1996. Other institutions he has served as a faculty member or administrator include Wichita State University and the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

The other provost candidates include: Dr. Juan N. Franco of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Dr. Jerry D. Thompson of Laredo.

A forum for Dr. Thompson was held last week. Dr. Franco's forum was Wednesday, April 3.

The provost and vice president for academic affairs is A&M International's chief academic officer and is responsible for the maintenance, development and implementation of academic programs for the University.
