TAMIU Language Institute Offers Various Summer Language Courses

This summer, Texas A&M International University's International Language Institute will be offering a variety of courses to improve one's language abilities. Registration for all summer courses at the Institute is from May 13 to May 24.

Included in summer offerings are English as a Second Language, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish.

The Institute will offer two English as a Second Language programs. The first is intensive and meets from 8:30 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning June 3 and ending July 26. There are six levels of English offered and each course will cover four skill areas of grammar, listen and speaking, reading and writing. The course costs $880 and includes an $80 reservation fee taken at the time of registration. It does not include the cost of books.

The second ESL program includes three electives: TOEFL preparation and Conversation I and II. Each course will meet from 7:30 p.m. to 9:35 p.m., beginning June 3. The cost is $275 and includes an $80 reservation fee, but not the cost of books. TOEFL preparation and Conversation I will meet Mondays and Wednesdays; Conversation II will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays. The courses last eight weeks.

In addition to English courses, the Institute is offering introductory courses in French, Italian, Russian and Spanish. These courses will meet from 7:30 p.m. to 9:35 p.m., beginning June 3.

The cost for each course is $275 and includes an $80 reservation fee, but not the cost of books. French, Russian and Spanish will meet Mondays and Wednesdays; Italian will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each course lasts eight weeks.
